The second second of the wall

Photo

The second piece of the collaboration, created at Dekkle Printmaking Studios.

'Keep Calm and Carry on you Medieval Peasants'his is the other side to 'Sabras', the cast cactus wall made by Aithan Shapira. It depicts the 'walls' that we encounter in our lives, some visible and some invisible. The two pieces were placed back to back, so they themselves became both sides of a wall.

'Sabras' installed at the Red Gallery, London

He is Aithan's final piece installed in the Gallery. The piece was entitled 'The Wall has Two Sides'
David and Aithan were exploring the concept of walls, the first being the ocean that separated the two artists. Aithan is based in Boston and David here in Baldock.

Details from 'Sabras.' The cast concrete wall.

Aithan cast hundreds of cacti by using resin moulds, which he made in Boston USA and then cast in Baldock, England as part of the collaboration with David for 3FF and Kings College, London.

A thank you to John Mills for assisting with this process.
